The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has officially authorized Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) for agricultural machinery testing and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) inspection and certification processes.
Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ) has received authorization certificates from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in two strategic areas, marking significant steps towards developing agricultural production and technologies. The General Directorate of Agricultural Reform has issued a Machinery and/or Agricultural Technology Equipment Testing Authorization Certificate to the Precision Agriculture and Robotics Department, located within the university's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Concurrently, the General Directorate of Plant Production has officially authorized the university's Technology Transfer Office Joint Stock Company as a Good Agricultural Practices Control and Certification Body. These authorizations expand the university's technical service capacity in the agriculture and livestock sectors.

Under the granted testing authority, the university will be able to conduct technical tests on agricultural machinery and agricultural technology equipment within the authorized vehicle groups. The certificate issued by the General Directorate of Agricultural Reform will be valid until September 28, 2031. During this period, the technical specifications and operational values of the equipment will be examined to determine their compliance with agricultural techniques. Official test reports prepared will meet the technical evaluation needs of machinery manufacturers and importers with a scientific infrastructure. The prototype development, mechanical testing, and sensor laboratories within the department will be directly offered to the service of the sector.

The control and certification authorization certificate granted to Technology Transfer Office Inc. is valid for the period between September 22, 2026, and September 21, 2028. The company will inspect compliance with Good Agricultural Practices rules in both plant and animal production areas and certify businesses that meet the criteria. These inspections, which consider environmental, human, and animal health, will ensure traceability in production and the conservation of natural resources. The establishment of an authorized body in Burdur will provide local producers with quick and on-site access to certification processes.
Continuing its mission of specialization focused on regional development in livestock, MAKÜ is reinforcing its projects in smart farm systems and feed technologies with these new authorizations. This step, which will facilitate producers' access to markets with certified products, will strengthen the integration of the university, producers, and industry. This new structure, enabling the direct transfer of scientific knowledge to the field, will contribute to the recording of agricultural production processes and the increase of added value in regional agriculture.
