A modern 7,000-square-meter facility in Bolu is achieving continuous strawberry production from May to December using digital automation in soilless farming techniques.
Digital Automation in Soilless Farming
Bolu Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Zekeriya Ar, conducted inspections at the soilless strawberry facility owned by producer Serdar Özşahin and his family in Okçular Village, within the central district. According to data from the Bolu Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, modern greenhouse and high tunnel techniques are applied in the 4,300 square meter enclosed section of the facility, which was established on a total area of 7,000 square meters. High yields are targeted by managing irrigation, climate control, and plant nutrition processes with a digital automation system.
Added Value with a Long Harvest Period
Thanks to the automation technology used in production, fertilizer and water savings are achieved, while the quality of produce per unit area is significantly increased. The facility's production calendar begins in May and continues uninterrupted until December. This extended harvest period provides significant added value to Bolu's agricultural potential and local economy. Provincial Director Zekeriya Ar congratulated the producer family for their successful initiative and stated that they will continue to support farmers in the field.
