Ministries Convene for the Future of the Grain Sector

The Ministries of Trade and Agriculture and Forestry met with sector stakeholders to evaluate market stability and procurement strategies amid expectations of a record harvest in the grain sector.
Joint Grain Assessment by Ministries
A Grain Sector Consultation Meeting was held on August 11, 2026, with the participation of Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı. At the meeting hosted by the Turkish Grain Board (TMO), the current situation of the sector and future strategies were discussed. Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced that there are no supply-related issues with agricultural products and that production has increased thanks to abundant rainfall. Minister Bolat also stated that the two ministries are working in high coordination for market stability and that the support of sector stakeholders for this harmony is vital.
Harvest and Market Regulation Steps
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that the highest harvest in the history of the Republic is expected this season, shaped by the efforts of producers. Yumaklı stated that as the harvest season nears its end, Turkey's production power and self-sufficiency in strategic products have been proven, and emphasized that efforts for food supply security will continue with determination. Within the scope of the meeting, Ahmet Güldal, Chairman and General Manager of the TMO, made a presentation on the procurement activities and field operations carried out during the 2026 harvest season. Ersin Dilber, General Manager of Food Control, informed the participants about the inspection and regulation activities conducted.
Demands of Sector Stakeholders Heard
In addition to public representatives, key actors of the sector came together at the meeting to evaluate domestic and international markets. Presidents of the National Grain Council, TUSAF Flour Industrialists Federation, and Grain Products Exporters' Associations took the floor to convey the demands of producers and industrialists. Consensus was reached on new steps to be taken to ensure the sustainability of agricultural production and protect farmers. Relevant institutions reiterated their determination to act jointly to maintain market balance and strengthen food security.
