Warning Against Import Initiative in Sunflower Harvest
· GıdaTarım

As the sunflower harvest continues in Tekirdağ, a warning has been issued that industrialists' demands to lower customs duties will victimize local producers.
CHP Tekirdağ Deputy Dr. İlhami Özcan Aygun evaluated the sunflower harvest, which began in the Muratlı district of Tekirdağ, from the field. Aygun stated that industrialists' initiatives to lower customs duties early in the harvest process would directly victimize producers and called on the Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry to protect local producers.
Dr. İlhami Özcan Aygun, who met with producers in the region, reported that yields ranged from 170 to 200 kilograms per decare in the field. Aygun noted that similar import pressures were experienced last year and emphasized the need to protect local farmers to ensure domestic market stability.
