Comprehensive Support for Crop Production
According to data from the National Union of Agricultural Insurers (NSA) of Russia, insurance payments to agricultural producers in the January-September period showed an 18% increase compared to the same period last year. Compensation was transferred to agricultural enterprises in 38 different regions across the country, with crop production losses being the decisive factor in this increase. Producers were paid over $58.8 million (4.9 billion rubles) due to crop damage or loss. This figure marks an 8% increase compared to the same period last year. Of the payments, $54 million were made under multi-risk insurance, while $4.85 million was transferred to producers to cover direct costs in extraordinary circumstances.

Livestock Compensation Doubled
Approximately $13.2 million (1.1 billion rubles) in compensation payments were made to livestock farms in the country in line with recorded animal stock losses. This recorded amount is exactly double the livestock payments made in the same period last year. Livestock compensation was implemented to cover producers in a total of 12 regions. For comparison, in the January-September 2025 period, a total of $61.2 million (5.1 billion rubles) was paid to the agricultural sector. Of the mentioned previous period, $55.2 million was allocated to crop production and $6.16 million to livestock risks.

Year-End Expectations Rise
The growth in agricultural insurance was not limited to state-subsidized policies alone. When additional insurance taken without state support is included in the calculation, the total amount paid for crop and animal losses exceeded $90 million (7.5 billion rubles). The National Union of Agricultural Insurers (NSA) of Russia, which closely monitors the compensation process in the sector, also shared its year-end projections. According to NSA data, the total insurance compensation to be transferred to producers by the end of the year is expected to reach at least $102 million (8.5 billion rubles).
