Turkey and Germany Target $5 Billion in Agricultural Trade

Turkey's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, and his German counterpart, Alois Rainer, signed a Joint Declaration of Intent aiming to boost bilateral agricultural trade volume to $5 billion.

A strategic step has been taken to strengthen agricultural relations between Turkey and Germany. Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı and German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Alois Rainer met at the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works building in Ankara and signed a Joint Declaration of Intent deepening bilateral cooperation. Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı highlighted the trade volume, stating:

Stating that the agricultural and food potential of both countries is far beyond the current figures, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı said the following regarding the targets:

The signed declaration of intent aims to build upon the existing memorandum of understanding, providing concrete contributions directly to producers and exporters.

Emphasizing that the cooperation holds significant potential in agricultural technologies, digitalization, sustainable production, and R&D, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı touched upon the guest minister's engagements:

German Minister Rainer also affirmed the commitment to deepen bilateral relations during the meeting.

Minister İbrahim Yumaklı announced that the Turkey-Germany Agriculture Executive Committee will be reactivated, and technical teams will monitor the targets. These steps are expected to increase the strength of Turkish agricultural products in the European market, bolster private sector partnerships, and accelerate technology transfer.
