Monsoon Floods Submerge Thousands of Hectares of Farmland in India

In India's Assam state, monsoon rains and floods have claimed 100 lives, with approximately 17,000 hectares of agricultural land submerged.
The death toll from monsoon rains and floods in India's Assam state has risen to 100. According to data from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), two more people lost their lives in the last 24 hours. State Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reported that over 1.1 million people in 25 districts have been directly affected by the disaster.
As a result of the heavy rainfall that severely impacted regional infrastructure, 16,951 hectares of agricultural land across the state have been submerged. The monsoon season, which intensifies between June and September in South Asia, causes significant damage to crop production and agricultural areas annually.
