Pasture Livestock Training Provided to Seasonal Workers in Konya's Çeltik District

Seasonal agricultural workers in Konya's Çeltik district received their certificates upon successful completion of the pasture livestock training organized within the scope of the INSURE Project.

Within the scope of the INSURE Project, funded by the European Union, the 'Seasonal Pasture Livestock Employee Training Course' organized for seasonal agricultural workers in Konya's Çeltik district has been successfully completed. The program, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, with the Turkish Red Crescent as a solution partner, and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Turkey, aims to develop the workforce in rural areas. The training program enabled participants to directly acquire the fundamental knowledge and field application skills required in livestock activities.

Throughout the course, seasonal workers were not only provided with theoretical knowledge but also engaged in comprehensive practical applications for situations they might encounter in the field. Critical topics such as pasture and herd management, daily animal health checks, and the identification of sick and healthy animals were highlighted in the training curriculum. Furthermore, safe animal handling, feed and water quality monitoring, farm hygiene, biosecurity rules, proper use of calving and calf pens, and hygienic milking methods were explained in detail.

A total of 7 trainees, 4 women and 3 men, who successfully completed the training process, received their vocational certificates at an official ceremony. The certificate distribution ceremony was attended by Çeltik District Director of Agriculture and Forestry Nazif Abay, course instructors, project coordinators, and the trainees. Officials stated that the certificates awarded would increase the agricultural and animal husbandry employment opportunities for seasonal workers and ensure productivity in businesses.

The Project for Strengthening Seasonal Agricultural Capacities in Rural Areas (INSURE) is being carried out with a multi-stakeholder structure to improve the quality of agricultural production in the region. The initiative, supported by European Union funds, represents the joint effort of public institutions, international development organizations, and civil society. The livestock course in Çeltik district formed an important part of this comprehensive capacity development strategy.

The training activities conducted within the scope of the project aim to bridge the gap in the qualified and conscious workforce needed in rural areas. Ensuring daily care in pasture livestock farming is not neglected, and preparedness for animal welfare and biological risks minimizes losses in animal production. It is aimed that the trainees who received education will directly contribute to the local livestock sector by reflecting these modern breeding practices they have acquired in the field.
