Turkey Rises to First Place in Agricultural Output in Europe

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that Turkey ranks 7th globally and 1st in Europe with a total agricultural output of $83.2 billion.
Agricultural Output Reaches $83 Billion
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı shared data on the sector's development during a special lecture at Ankara Social Sciences University. Minister Yumaklı recalled that Turkey ranked 12th globally in 2002 with an agricultural output of $24.5 billion. Stating that according to the Ministry's 2025 data, the output has reached $83.2 billion, Yumaklı emphasized that Turkey ranks 7th globally and first in Europe. Responding to claims in the sector, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made the following statements:
"In 2002, Turkey was 12th in the world with an agricultural output of $24.5 billion. According to 2025 data, Turkey has risen to 7th in the world and first in Europe with an agricultural output of $83.2 billion. It is being said that 'Agriculture is over in Turkey, we don't produce anything ourselves, our production is not enough for us, we import everything from abroad.' These are not true."
120 Thousand Kilometers of Irrigation Lines
Minister Yumaklı stated that water investments are critically important for the sustainability of agricultural production and drew attention to the work of the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works. According to DSİ data, more than 120,000 kilometers of irrigation infrastructure have been built since 2002. Noting that the investments made are the foundation of food supply security, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı made the following assessment:
"In other words, infrastructure investments equivalent to three times the circumference of the world have been made. This investment is indispensable for the food that will reach our tables."
Green Homeland and Firefighting Fleet
Yumaklı stated that 500 million saplings and seeds are planted annually through the General Directorate of Forestry, and reported that 14 million saplings were planted in a single day on November 11, 2025. Denying claims that burned areas are opened for construction, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı addressed those making the claims:
"Show us one example."
Yumaklı announced that 28 aircraft, 119 helicopters, and 14 UAVs are used in the fight against forest fires, and noted that 194 of the 800 towers in the field are equipped with smart technology.
