Farmers Received 115.5 Billion Lira in Support Over Nine Months

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry disbursed 115.5 billion lira of its 2026 agricultural support budget to approximately 3 million producers in the first nine months.

Nine-Month Agricultural Support Balance Sheet

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is continuously making cash support payments to ensure the sustainability of agricultural production and to offset rising input costs for producers. According to ministry data, 115 billion 496 million lira of the general agricultural support budget of 167.6 billion lira set for 2026 was transferred to farmers' accounts in the first 9 months. Approximately 3 million producers nationwide directly benefited from these payments. The remaining portion of the support budget is also planned to be delivered to producers according to the calendar by the end of the year.

Crop Production Received the Lion's Share

According to official data released by the Ministry, a significant portion, 73.3%, of the total expenditure in the nine-month period was allocated to crop production. Farmers engaged in field, vineyard, and orchard cultivation received approximately 84 billion 655 million lira under this category. The largest component within crop production was the basic support item, focused on alleviating fertilizer and diesel costs. Producers received 44 billion 593 million lira solely under the basic support heading.

27 Billion Lira for the Livestock Sector

Livestock support, aimed at ensuring continuity in the country's meat and milk production, constituted the second-largest share of the total budget. During the nine-month period, 23.5% of the support expenditures were allocated to the livestock sector, utilizing 27 billion 136 million lira. Within animal production, cattle producers received the most significant support. In this context, 12 billion 14 million lira was paid to producers as calf support, aiming to secure the sustainability of their operations.

Rural Development and Research Expenditures

The modernization of the agricultural sector and the implementation of scientific methods in the field also held significant importance in the support budget. For rural development, which accounted for 2.6% of total payments, 3 billion 13 million lira was transferred to farmers and entrepreneurs. Additionally, 407 million lira was directly allocated to agricultural R&D activities, and 285 million lira was provided to aquaculture producers. These payments aimed to encourage value-added investments in rural areas.

Livestock Payments Prominent in the Third Quarter

Payments to the livestock sector intensified in the third quarter of the year, covering July, August, and September. According to ministry data, 4 billion 51 million lira was allocated for cattle farming during this period, while 1 billion 325 million lira was paid to protect animal and herd health. In the same period, 1 billion 139 million lira was paid as compensation for animal diseases, and 1 billion 95 million lira was transferred as lamb-goat support to small ruminant producers.

Licensed Warehousing and Infrastructure Support

In the third quarter of the year, the logistics and storage infrastructure for crop production were also supported by the ministry. Producers who stored their harvested products in licensed warehouses received 47 million lira in rental support during the July-September period. Furthermore, 1 billion 232 million lira was paid for rural development investments covering modernization and mechanization processes in the same three-month period. This ensured the institutional protection of product supply and market balance during the harvest season.
