Olive Harvest Increases But Purchase Prices Fall
· GıdaTarım

While the table olive harvest in Aydın's Karacasu district began with expectations of a high yield, falling purchase prices compared to last season have sparked producer discontent.
In Aydın's Karacasu district, the purchase of Domat and Eşek table olives has commenced, but the announced price list has led to producer backlash. Despite an increase in yield compared to the previous season, purchase price brackets have significantly declined. Last year, Domat olives were traded at 90 TL for double-sized, 75 TL for size 1, 60 TL for size 2, 50 TL for size 3, and 40 TL for size 4. This season, the prices have been set at 60 TL for size 1, 50 TL for size 2, 40 TL for size 3, and 30 TL for size 4. Purchases of other olive varieties are expected to begin in the coming weeks.

Olive producer Akif Karabilcen, who has been farming for 30 years in the Yenice neighborhood, voiced his frustration, highlighting the gap between field expenses and purchase prices:
Olive producers in the region, emphasizing the increasing cost pressure, shared their grievances regarding market conditions with the following statements:
