Acquittal Renews Confidence at General Assembly
The 74th Financial General Assembly of Konya Beet Growers Cooperative was held at the Konya Şeker central campus with the participation of producer partners. In the acquittal vote, the board of directors received strong support from its partners, with 3,444 affirmative votes against 366 negative votes. Ramazan Erkoyuncu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of PANKOBİRLİK and Konya Beet Growers Cooperative, presented comprehensive information about the financial statements.
Economic Inputs Affecting Farmers
Ramazan Erkoyuncu, Chairman of PANKOBİRLİK and Konya Beet Growers Cooperative, made the following assessment regarding input costs:
"Unfortunately, there is an inflation spiral. Liquidity crunch has reached its peak. We farmers have also taken our share from this. Wars happening worldwide have seriously affected production inputs, especially diesel and fertilizer. Thank God, we received rain this year, and our expectations for the floor price have risen. Hopefully, it will be as we wish."
22 Million Euro Investment in Factories
Erkoyuncu stated that a modernization investment of approximately 22 million euros was made in the Konya Şeker and Çumra Şeker factories, noting that the campaign period has shortened, production volume has increased, and past debts have been paid without delay. Erkoyuncu added that despite the liquidity crunch, the investments will amortize themselves and advance and in-kind support will continue.
Response to Sugar Sales Allegations with Data
PANKOBİRLİK Chairman and Konya Beet Growers Cooperative Chairman of the Board Ramazan Erkoyuncu clarified the sales allegations circulating in the market with the following statement:
"We took office on October 27, 2021. The previous management sold a total of 45,600 tons of 'A' sugar before the campaign and after it started. The average price of these sales was approximately 3 lira 96 kuruş. When we took office, we also took over the sales commitments made by the previous management. In the 2021/2022 campaign, a total of 454,100 tons of sugar were produced in the Çumra and Konya Şeker factories. We used 93,000 tons of this in Torku products and sold 361,000 tons as 'A' sugar. There is an allegation that 'they sold 400,000 tons of sugar at 17 lira'. This is absolutely not true. The weighted average of the total 'A' sugar sales in our company's records is 8 lira 17 kuruş. Sugar prices later rose to the 17-18 lira level, but the amount we sold above 18 lira was only approximately 45,886 tons. That is, 12.7% of the total sales. More than 87% of the sales were realized below 18 lira."
