Barren Olive Groves in Karaman Get Watered with Solar Energy

A 14.1 million lira solar-powered irrigation facility in Karaman's Özdemir Village has connected 600 decares of barren olive groves to modern infrastructure.
Barren Olive Groves Meet Water
An agricultural irrigation facility, completed in Özdemir Village, connected to the Karaman center, has been put into service with a ceremony. The system, built within the scope of the Göksu Taşeli Basin Development Project carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, was realized in cooperation with the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry and the Provincial Special Administration. Thanks to the investment, olive groves established on 600 decares of barren land in the Pelitli and Pamukluk areas of the village have gained access to regular irrigation.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Özdemir Village Headman İsa Gündüz expressed his feelings with the following words:
'Our esteemed guests, you are all welcome. You have come with the grace and blessings of Friday. May God be pleased with you, and thank you for coming.'
Modern Solar-Powered Infrastructure
In the technical infrastructure project, completed with a total contract price of 14,177,732.50 TL + VAT, water was pumped from an elevation of 325 meters to a height of 920 meters. Within the facility, 3 irrigation pools with a total storage volume of 1,050 cubic meters were built, and all stages of the system were automated. Additionally, to meet the electrical energy consumed by the high-power pumps at the pumping station, a modern Solar Power Plant (GES) with an installed capacity of 375 kWe was established and commissioned using the Provincial Special Administration's own budget.
