TZOB Announces Egg Price Increase in August

According to data from the Union of Turkish Agricultural Chambers (TZOB), eggs saw the highest price increase in August, rising by 37.8% in markets and 39.9% at the producer level.
Sharp Increase in Market and Producer Prices
According to data shared by the Union of Turkish Agricultural Chambers (TZOB), eggs were the product with the largest price increase in markets and bazaars in August. The institution's data shows that the monthly increase rate in markets reached 37.8%. The price per egg, which was 4 Lira and 87 kuruş on July 27, climbed to 6 Lira and 71 kuruş as of August 28. As a result of this change, the average price of a 30-egg carton rose from 130 Lira to over 200 Lira. While prices also increased by 39.9% at the producer level, the producer sales price rose from 3 Lira and 23 kuruş to 4 Lira and 52 kuruş.
Input Costs and Official Indicators
According to TZOB data, in August, broiler feed increased by 34.5% year-on-year, milk feed by 31.8%, electricity by 25.1%, and diesel by 57.9%. However, the fact that the increase in feed prices on a monthly basis remained below 1% indicates that the rise in the market cannot be explained solely by monthly feed expenses. On the other hand, according to Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) data, eggs were the fourth most increased product in August, with a 15.70% price hike. In the data from the Consumer Association Federation, eggs had recorded a 13.32% increase in May.
