In Tunceli's Çemişgezek district, producer Ayşe Balcı utilized 32 decares of idle land, transforming it into a productive area with 1,200 almond trees and various fruits, thanks to state support.
Ayşe Balcı, a mother of four living in Vişneli village in Tunceli's Çemişgezek district, took a significant step to bring idle agricultural land into economic use. Benefiting from the support of the Special Afforestation Project carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Balcı planted 1,200 almond saplings in a 32,000 square meter area. Experts from the Çemişgezek District Agriculture Directorate provided regular technical guidance and support during the establishment and maintenance phases of the orchard.

Through planned irrigation and pruning processes, the trees quickly adapted to local climate conditions. Producer Ayşe Balcı stated that they expect approximately 6 tons of yield from the almond orchard this season. Expanding the product range in her production, Balcı also diversified her family income by cultivating 300 walnut, 200 mulberry, and 100 pistachio trees in the same area.
The implemented model provides a concrete example of transforming unused idle lands in the region back into production. The initiative, demonstrating that added value can be generated in rural areas through patience and regular effort, has revitalized the local agricultural economy. State-provided afforestation incentives and technical field guidance have proven that small-scale lands can be transformed into productive fruit orchards.
