Thanks to digital sensors distributed by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, protected cultivation producers are relieved of the burden of frost watch by monitoring temperature and humidity changes in their greenhouses via their mobile phones.
Remote Monitoring in Greenhouses with Digital Sensors
Antalya Metropolitan Municipality is expanding its digital sensor support within the scope of the Digital Agriculture Project, offering protected cultivation producers the ability to remotely monitor temperature and humidity values. Through the system, producers can instantly check the climate conditions in their greenhouses via a mobile application on their cell phones. Alarms set up against temperature drops and potential frost hazards prevent yield losses that could occur, especially in winter months. High Agricultural Engineer Nermin Ata Aksu states that the application saves producers time and cost by eliminating the need to constantly go to the greenhouse.

Technological Support for Aksu and Surrounding Districts
The digital transformation project is being delivered to farmers engaged in protected cultivation in the districts of Elmalı, Kumluca, Demre, Finike, Kaş, Serik, and Aksu. According to municipal data, this technological equipment has been delivered to a total of 91 producers in the Aksu and Kaş districts. A total of 61 sensors have been provided to farmers in the Murtuna and Gökdere neighborhoods of Aksu district. The system, which aims to prevent plant diseases caused by excessive humidity and to refine the irrigation schedule, is creating an infrastructure that will directly increase the productivity of greenhouse agriculture in the region.
Stove Duty Lightened in Winter Frost Watch
Producers who use wood stoves for heating systems inside their greenhouses emphasize that the challenging frost watch duty, which they frequently encounter during winter months, is being eased thanks to the sensors. Murtuna neighborhood producer Kenan Şevtekin, describing their difficult vigil process, shared his thoughts with the following words:

'During winter months, we often keep watch in the greenhouses for long periods, sometimes even sleeping there. We have to stay awake throughout the night to add wood to the stove. With the sensors, this burden will be lightened.'
Producer Murat Kahraman, explaining the conveniences provided by the mobile application and its impact on social life, stated the following in his assessment:
'Thanks to the sensors, we will now be able to attend weddings and religious ceremonies with peace of mind, and we will be able to track the temperature in our greenhouses instantly from our phones.'
