Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz announced that an early warning system to be established within the Food Committee will dynamically monitor food prices on a weekly basis.
Weekly Monitoring of Food Prices
Speaking at the Eskişehir Development Platform Economy Consultation Meeting, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that increasing food supply and maintaining market balance are critical priorities. Announcing that a new working model has been established within the Food Committee, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz made the following assessment:
"We will carry out important work related to food by tracking price developments on a weekly basis and taking necessary measures with an early warning system, forecasting supply-demand developments."
Yılmaz noted that with the new system, agricultural production and distribution processes will be monitored much more dynamically.
Closed System in Agricultural Irrigation
Emphasizing the need to rapidly complete infrastructure investments to increase productivity and yield in agricultural production, Yılmaz pointed to the effective management of water resources. According to Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz's statement, over 70% of the total water resources used in Turkey are consumed directly in agricultural production. It was stated that to prevent resource waste, it is imperative to abandon traditional open canal irrigation systems and transition to modern and efficient closed pressurized irrigation systems over time.
Supply-Side Inflation Fight
Yılmaz announced that the economic administration will strengthen supply-side policies in four critical areas: food, housing, energy, and logistics, and set an export target of 10 billion dollars for Eskişehir. Making assessments regarding price stability, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said:
"Inflation is our fundamental issue. The process of decline, which started at a level exceeding 75% in 2024, continues. But we are not yet at the level we desire."
Yılmaz drew attention to the role of expanding agricultural supply capacity in achieving permanent price stability.
