Fishermen in Giresun Prepare for New Fishing Season with Coordination

Ahead of the fisheries season opening on September 1, 2026, in Giresun, public institutions and sector representatives convened for a coordination meeting.
New Fishing Season Preparations Discussed
An comprehensive evaluation meeting was held at the Giresun Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry meeting hall, prior to the start of the fisheries season on September 1, 2026. The meeting, chaired by Provincial Director Mustafa Ensar Yılmaz and Deputy Provincial Director Mehmet Fatih Şahin, was attended by control officers, personnel from the Coast Guard, Provincial Gendarmerie Command, Marine Police, Port Authority, as well as heads of fisheries cooperatives and fishermen. During the meeting, fishing activities across the city were discussed, and preparations for the new fishing season were put on the agenda.
Fisheries Potential and Support
Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Mustafa Ensar Yılmaz emphasized Giresun's critical role in fisheries production. Yılmaz noted that all institutional resources are being mobilized to further advance the current sectoral potential, stating that they always stand by fishermen and producers. Indicating that institutional support for the sector will continue uninterrupted, Provincial Director Yılmaz wished all fishermen in the region a bountiful and productive fishing season.
