Kozan Chamber of Agriculture Demands 17 TL for Corn

As corn harvest begins in Çukurova, the producers are concerned by the Turkish Grain Board's (TMO) failure to announce its purchase price. The Kozan Chamber of Agriculture has requested a floor price of at least 17 TL per kilogram.
Harvest and Price Uncertainty in Kozan
In Kozan district of Adana, one of Çukurova's significant agricultural centers, combine harvesters have entered the fields for the 2026 corn harvest. However, the Turkish Grain Board's (TMO) failure to announce its purchase price is creating uncertainty among producers. Emir Kayhan, Head of the Kozan Chamber of Agriculture, stated that the delay in the floor price announcement during these critical days when the harvest process has effectively started is unsettling farmers. Kayhan emphasized that the institution must announce a price that is in line with market conditions as soon as possible to ensure producers receive fair compensation for their labor.
Cost Increases and Floor Price Demand
For the 2025 season, the TMO had announced a corn purchase price of 11.30 TL per kilogram, reaching approximately 12 TL with premium supports. Drawing attention to the rising input costs, Kozan Chamber of Agriculture Head Emir Kayhan stated that the corn purchase price for the 2026 season should be set at a minimum of 17 TL/kg. This demand signifies a difference of 5.70 TL compared to last year's base price, representing an increase of approximately 50.4%.
