Erciş Sugar Factory Commences 39th Campaign Period

Erciş Sugar Factory, having signed contracts with 661 producers in the Lake Van Basin, will process 220,000 tons of sugar beet during its 39th campaign period, lasting 100 days, to produce 33,000 tons of sugar.

Erciş Sugar Factory, operating under Türkiye Şeker Fabrikaları A.Ş. (Turkish Sugar Factories Inc.), officially launched its 39th sugar beet procurement campaign for the 2026-2027 period with a formal ceremony. The event, held at the factory premises, saw significant participation from industry representatives, union executives, and producers. Gifts were presented to the producers who delivered the season's first product to the factory. Officials announced that the procurement process in the Lake Van Basin commenced with the opening of the weighbridge and prayers, marking the 101st campaign year for the Turkish sugar industry.

According to data shared by Factory Manager Abdullah Yurddaşer, production contracts totaling 300,000 tons have been signed with 661 farmers across 41 villages affiliated with the Erciş, Ahlat, and Van agricultural regional directorates. The planting season, which began on April 17, concluded on June 8, with production carried out over a total area of 41,075 decares. Yurddaşer reported that advance payments, both in-kind and cash, amounting to 231 million TL, representing 30% of the beet price, have been disbursed to producers to date.

Sugar beet processing activities at the factory are set to commence on October 9, 2026. An average of 2,200 tons of sugar beet will be processed daily under a three-shift system operating 24 hours a day. Throughout the campaign, planned to last approximately 100 days, the aim is to process a total of 220,000 tons of sugar beet. Upon completion of this raw material processing, the facility is expected to produce 33,000 tons of sugar, 7,900 tons of molasses, and 67,000 tons of wet beet pulp.

Dr. Muhiddin Şahin, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of TÜRKŞEKER, emphasized the factory's importance to the region with the following words:

Factory Manager Abdullah Yurddaşer also announced that 20% of the product delivered by farmers will be allocated as free wet beet pulp.
