A significant step has been taken within the scope of the Under-Cover Lettuce Cultivation Development Project, launched to increase the efficient use of greenhouse areas in Burdur. Within the framework of the Project for Enhancing the Utilization of Agricultural Lands, coordinated by the General Directorate of Plant Production of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, a distribution program was held in the Çeltikçi district. In the organization, attended by Burdur Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Eyup Adıgüzel, producers were provided with a 75% subsidy. Through the project, a total of 164,500 lettuce seedlings were delivered to farmers across the province.
The implemented project aims to prevent the region's greenhouse assets from remaining idle throughout the winter season. The support model, which aims to meet the increasing demand for fresh green vegetables in the domestic market during winter months, directly contributes to the sustainability of under-cover production. According to data from the Burdur Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, the goal is to bring idle lands into production while alleviating producers' input costs. Officials emphasize that similar support activities will continue to increase agricultural productivity and strengthen local production.
