Chamber of Agriculture Calls on TMO for Raisin Price

As the seedless raisin harvest begins, producers expect a floor price of at least 150 TL and urgent purchase intervention against rising input costs.

Floor Price Uncertainty in Raisins

With the start of the seedless raisin harvest season, floor price uncertainty is prominent in the market. While the Tariş Raisin Union demands that the new period's price be announced by the Turkish Grain Board (TMO), no official price announcement has yet been made by the institution. Tariş Raisin Union had announced a price of 120 TL per kilogram for grade 9 raisins for the August 19, 2025 period, after which TMO intervened in the market on September 20, implementing a purchase price of 120 TL/kg.

Export Concerns and Producer Expectations

Although there was a decrease in harvest volume last season due to frost and adverse weather conditions, the export volume declined. TMO assesses that global markets could be lost if the price is set too high. In contrast, producers, citing rising production and input costs, expect a floor price of at least 150 TL per kilogram to be announced. A premium and purchase model that will balance the market is proposed to resolve the issue in the seedless raisin sector, where Turkey is a global leader.

Official Call from Manisa Chambers of Agriculture

According to data from the Manisa Chambers of Agriculture Provincial Coordination Board, Manisa accounts for 85% of Turkey's raisin production and 90% of its total exports. Hüseyin Altındağ, Chairman of the Manisa Chambers of Agriculture Provincial Coordination Board and Şehzadeler Chamber of Agriculture, made the following statement regarding the issue at the board meeting:

"Our expectation from our President, the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, the Minister of Treasury and Finance, and TMO is that the floor price for raisins be announced as soon as possible. We expect a price increase from our President based on the inflation and agricultural input price increase rate over the past year for the raisins that were 120 lira last year."
