Chickpea Harvest Begins in Tufanbeyli with the Bounty of Rainfall

As combine harvesters enter the fields in Tufanbeyli district of Adana, the chickpea harvest has commenced, with seasonal rains bringing a quality that gladdens the hearts of producers.
Abundant Chickpea Harvest in Tufanbeyli
The harvest season for chickpeas, planted months ago in the rural areas of Pınarlar Neighborhood in Adana's Tufanbeyli district, has begun. As combine harvesters enter the fields, months of intensive labor are turning into produce, with the harvest efforts also captured from the air. Producer Mehmet Tokdemir, who planted on approximately 50 decares this season, is transporting the harvested crop from the fields to the threshing grounds using tractor trailers. Expressing his satisfaction with the yield, producer Mehmet Tokdemir described the situation as follows:
"Due to abundant rainfall this year, our product has been quite bountiful and of high quality. We had planted on approximately 50 decares, and now it's time to reap the rewards of our labor."
Threshing Efforts and Market Value
The chickpeas brought from the fields to the threshing grounds are being cleaned by producers using traditional methods, spread out on large tarpaulins. The grains, winnowed against the wind with the help of shovels, are left to dry in the sun after being cleared of foreign matter. The harvested quality chickpeas are finding buyers at 100 TL per kilogram. After the laborious process from soil preparation to planting, maintenance, and threshing, the dried chickpeas will be offered to the market.
