Phased Ban Schedule Announced for Three Agricultural Chemicals

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry is gradually phasing out the import, manufacturing, and use of agricultural chemicals containing the active ingredients thiophanate methyl, indoxacarb, and phosmet.
The General Directorate of Food and Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that plant protection products containing the active ingredients thiophanate methyl, indoxacarb, and phosmet will be withdrawn from the market. According to the schedule set by the Ministry, the actual import of these chemicals will completely end on November 13, 2026, manufacturing on December 18, 2026, and their use in agricultural fields on December 31, 2027.
The regulation was based on the risks posed by the chemicals to the environment and human health, as well as their approval status in the European Union. Officials noted that the availability of registered alternative products for the banned active ingredients played a decisive role in making this decision.
