Cereals Can Be Planted Sequentially on Rain-fed Farmlands

A regulatory amendment by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has paved the way for the sequential planting of wheat, barley, rye, triticale, and oats on rain-fed agricultural plots.

A revision to the regulation, prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and published in the Official Gazette as Regulation No. 2026/30, has introduced changes to the principles of crop production support payments covering the years 2025–2027. With the addition of a new provision to Article 13 of the regulation, the conditions for support for these five strategic grains have been clarified by allowing the consecutive planting of barley, wheat, rye, triticale, and oats on rain-fed agricultural plots.

The new regulation, with an effective date of January 1, 2027, will be limited to dry farming areas only, excluding irrigated farmlands or other crop groups. In addition to this flexibility in crop rotation rules, the relevant regulation also includes provisions for biological control support and administrative application procedures for inspection reports.
