Aronia Harvest Begins in Hatay Highlands
· GıdaTarım

The first yield from aronia saplings planted five years ago in Küreci Plateau of Hatay's Hassa district is being harvested, with the product fetching over 200 Turkish Lira per kilogram directly from the field.
In Hassa district of Hatay, one of Turkey's significant agricultural centers, aronia harvesting has begun in Küreci Plateau, situated on the foothills of the Amanos Mountains. Farmer Fırat Turan Gıttık, benefiting from the cool climate conditions of the region, has started to receive the first substantial yield from saplings he planted five years ago. The aronia fruits, reaching high quality thanks to the favorable climate, serve as an example for local producers seeking alternative crops and bring new added value to the region's agriculture.

The harvested aronia is being stored in cold storage facilities to preserve its quality and ensure it can be offered to consumers later. According to information shared by farmer Fırat Turan Gıttık, the harvested aronia is finding buyers at prices exceeding 200 Turkish Lira per kilogram before leaving the field. The high market value of the fruit, which stands out due to the demand for healthy consumption, highlights the commercial return of alternative fruit cultivation under plateau conditions across the region.
