Tomato Prices in Antalya Wholesale Markets Surge 101% Annually

According to Antalya Commodity Exchange data, the volume of tomatoes entering wholesale markets decreased in October 2026, while the price index rose by 101.29% year-on-year. Trading volume in the vegetable group contracted while prices continued to climb, whereas a decline was recorded in fruits.

Shrinking Tomato Supply Doubles Prices

According to Antalya Commodity Exchange (ATB) data, tomato supply in wholesale markets declined in October 2026, while the price index recorded a sharp increase. Based on the 2015=100 index results, the tomato trading volume index reached 15, while the price index hit 5,281 points. Antalya Commodity Exchange records revealed that the tomato trading volume index decreased by 17.91% compared to the previous month and by 15.15% compared to the same period last year. Conversely, the tomato price index in the market increased by 92.70% month-on-month and by 101.29% year-on-year.

Double-Digit Increase in Vegetable Market

In the vegetable group traded in Antalya wholesale markets, a decrease in trading volume also pushed the price index upwards. According to Antalya Commodity Exchange calculations, the vegetable volume index was 25 in October 2026, with the price index settling at 3,601. On a monthly basis, the vegetable trading volume index decreased by 27.24%, while the price index rose by 44.24%. Considering annual data, a decrease of 8.22% was observed in the vegetable trading volume index, while the vegetable price index recorded an increase of 62.11%, as registered by the exchange report.

Indices Declined Together in the Fruit Group

Unlike tomatoes and vegetables in October, a downward trend dominated both the volume and price indices in the fruit group. According to the Antalya Commodity Exchange bulletin, the fruit volume index was determined at 37, and the price index at 2,950. The fruit trading volume index decreased by 20.30% compared to the previous month and by 19.88% compared to the same month last year. The fruit price index also experienced a decrease of 2.28% month-on-month and 13.99% year-on-year, presenting a picture that diverged from other product groups in the market average.
