High Yields Achieved in Stubble-Sown Sunflowers in Muratlı

In Muratlı, a direct stubble sowing project, supported by subsidized seeds, yielded up to 255 kilograms of sunflower per decare and achieved oil content levels reaching 44%.
Stubble Sowing Harvest in Muratlı
The harvest period for the Stubble Sowing Sunflower project, coordinated by the Muratlı District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, has concluded successfully. Trials conducted on the fields belonging to producer İbrahim Olgun in Kırkkepenekli Mahallesi, using subsidized seeds provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, have yielded high results. According to data from the Muratlı District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, a yield of 255 kg per decare and an oil content of 43.5% were obtained from plot 358 in block 165. In other trial areas, plot 888-889 in block 0 reached a yield of 250 kg per decare with 44% oil content, while plot 95-96-97 in block 0 recorded a yield of 232 kg per decare and 42.5% oil content.
Soil Conservation and High Yield
Muratlı District Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Süleyman Aslan, highlighted that the implemented method offers significant advantages compared to traditional tillage farming. The direct stubble sowing model plays a critical role in preventing soil erosion, increasing water retention capacity by conserving moisture, and reducing input costs, particularly fuel. This practice, brought to life with the Ministry's subsidized seed support, aims to serve as an example for other farmers in the region and to promote sustainable agricultural techniques throughout Thrace. The District Directorate expressed wishes for a fruitful production season following the successful results achieved.
