The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has announced the official application calendar and implementation principles for 2027 feeder cattle imports. According to the Ministry's plan, a total of 480,000 head of male feeder cattle will be permitted for import to strengthen animal supply in the sector and support red meat supply security. The application process, which breeders have been anticipating, will commence on Monday, October 5, 2026, and conclude at the end of business on Friday, October 16, 2026.

The barn capacity of farms, as recorded in the TÜRKVET system, will be applied as the primary criterion for the distribution of the total allocated quota. Of the total 480,000 head quota, 380,000 head, representing 79% of the total, will be allocated to large farms with a capacity of 200 head or more. The remaining 100,000 head, constituting 21% of the share, will be allocated to small farms with fewer than 200 head. Breeders are required to update their capacity information in the system before applying.
