TÜRKŞEKER Launches Beet Harvesting Campaign at Three Factories

The 2026/2027 beet harvesting and processing season has officially commenced simultaneously with ceremonies at TÜRKŞEKER's Uşak, Elazığ, and Ağrı Sugar Factories.

The 2026/2027 beet procurement and processing period officially opened on September 22 with ceremonies held at the Uşak, Elazığ, and Ağrı Sugar Factories, affiliated with Türkiye Şeker Fabrikaları A.Ş. (TÜRKŞEKER). During the ceremonies, scales were opened, and sacrifices were made along with prayers. Dr. Muhiddin Şahin, Chairman of the Board and General Manager of TÜRKŞEKER, made the following remarks during the ceremony:

The Nuri Şeker Uşak Sugar Factory, whose foundation was laid on November 6, 1925, under the leadership of Molla Ömeroğlu Nuri (Şeker), has begun its 101st procurement campaign. According to data shared by Factory Manager Ercan Tokdede, a total of 185,000 tons of beets will be received from 29,110 decares of land in Uşak, Denizli, Afyonkarahisar, and Kütahya. The factory, which will begin processing on September 25, aims to produce approximately 24,500 tons of crystal sugar over a period of about 105 days. Factory Manager Ercan Tokdede, who stated that 180 million TL in advances have been paid to farmers, said:

At the Elazığ Sugar Factory, which opened its seventy-first campaign, contracts were signed with 2,708 producers from 93 villages across 3 provinces. Factory Manager Sami Tekin announced that 190,000 tons of the 250,000 tons of beets to be procured will be processed at the Elazığ facility, and 50,000 tons at the Malatya Sugar Factory. Tekin, who stated that 234.9 million TL in advances were given to producers, drew attention to the new boilers and made the following statement:

Additionally, a 90 m³ lime kiln and a second press filter have been prepared at the facility.

The Ağrı Sugar Factory, which has been in operation since 1984, has commenced its 40th campaign with a beet volume of 330,000 tons. A portion of 30,000 tons of the product will be transferred to the Kars Sugar Factory for processing. Factory Manager Kürşat Erdoğan made the following assessment:

While 275 million TL in advances were paid to farmers and 17,000 tons of molasses pulp were distributed, Atilla Maral, who made the first delivery, and Hakan Çetin, who brought the cleanest and highest polar content product in 2025, were awarded at the ceremony.
