Ukraine's Grain Exports Decline 31%

Ukraine's grain exports in the new marketing year fell to 6.7 million tons, with corn shipments increasing despite sharp losses in wheat and barley.

Wheat and Barley Decline in Grain Shipments

Ukraine's total grain and legume exports for the 2026/27 marketing year, from the beginning of the season to November 6, decreased by 31.3% compared to the previous year, reaching 6 million 776 thousand tons. According to official records, wheat shipments, which account for the largest share of exports, amounted to 3 million 919 thousand tons. Wheat exports saw a decline of 2 million 492 thousand tons, a 38.8% decrease compared to the same period last year. Barley shipments fell to 501 thousand tons with a net decrease of 630 thousand tons, marking the largest proportional drop at 55.7%. Rye exports remained at a mere 500 tons.

Corn Exports Rise While Flour Sales Fall

In contrast to the sharp losses in wheat and barley, corn exports showed positive momentum. According to announced foreign trade figures, Ukraine's corn exports reached 2 million 280 thousand tons as of November 6. Thus, corn shipments increased by 130 thousand tons, or 6%, compared to the same period last season, becoming the sole major grain product to record an increase in the marketing year. Flour exports, categorized under processed products, remained at 15 thousand tons, calculated as 20 thousand tons in grain equivalent, and decreased by 32.4% compared to last year.
