Kayseri Apples at Çarşı Melikgazi
Local harvests from Kayseri's prominent fruit-growing regions were showcased at a comprehensive promotional event connecting producers directly with consumers. The Apple Days program, hosted by Melikgazi Municipality at Çarşı Melikgazi, highlighted the strength of the region's fruit production. Melikgazi Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu, who spearheaded the event, emphasized the nation's agricultural wealth and noted that its valuable assets are not sufficiently promoted.

Melikgazi Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu stated in his remarks that local products need to be embraced, adding:

'I called our provincial agriculture director and our mayors, asking, ‘Shall we hold Apple Days? Shall we promote Kayseri's apples?’ and requested their support. I thank them very much. Because we actually produce many things but don't embrace them. Apples are one of these.'
17 Varieties from Three Districts
As part of the organization, carefully selected produce from Yeşilhisar, Yahyalı, and Develi districts, considered Kayseri's most significant fruit production centers, were gathered under one roof. According to Melikgazi Municipality data, a total of 17 apple varieties grown across these three districts were presented to the public. The diverse types displayed on the stalls attracted significant consumer interest, ensuring that high-quality local produce reached buyers directly from the producer. Melikgazi Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu urged citizens to meet their winter apple needs by supporting local producers, stating that this offers critical support for regional agriculture.
Model for 81 Provinces from the Ministry
This local initiative, organized to boost apple consumption and provide orchard producers with direct market access, quickly gained the attention of central government. The event at Çarşı Melikgazi caught the eye of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, leading to its transformation into a model to be rolled out across the country. According to Melikgazi Mayor Mustafa Palancıoğlu, ministry officials have directly contacted all 81 provincial directors. Through the work initiated under the ministry's coordination, the aim is to organize similar festivals and producer markets in all 81 provinces in partnership with local municipalities and agriculture directorates.
