Portable Shelter Support for Producers in Trabzon
Within the scope of the Small Ruminant Husbandry Development Project prepared by the Trabzon Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, modern equipment was delivered to producers. The initiative, financed by the Eastern Black Sea Project Regional Development Administration (DOKAP) and the Trabzon Sheep and Goat Breeders Association, aims to strengthen the small ruminant husbandry infrastructure in the region. At the distribution ceremony, portable animal shelters and various breeding equipment were handed over to producers, with the goal of equipping their operations with modern production capabilities.
Animal Welfare Strengthened Under Highland Conditions
The project plans to raise animal welfare standards by meeting the temporary shelter needs of flocks grazed in challenging highland conditions. İsa Kaplan, Trabzon Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, emphasized that this shelter and equipment support will directly address the urgent needs of producers in the field. It was noted that the implementation will also support the protection of pasture areas, reduce production costs for small ruminant breeders, and increase productivity and operational sustainability in the highlands.
Sector Stakeholders Convened at Distribution Ceremony
The equipment distribution ceremony was attended by DOKAP President Hakan Gültekin, Akçaabat Chamber of Agriculture President Mustafa Hikmet Eyüpoğlu, Trabzon Sheep and Goat Breeders Association President Taşkın Hamzaoğlu, and numerous institutional representatives. Portable shelter systems delivered to producers were inspected on-site during the ceremony, and current sector needs were discussed in detail. The Provincial Directorate announced that support projects will continue uninterrupted to develop livestock activities and disseminate modern facilities to rural areas.
