New Era Figures Announced for Agricultural Production Supports
· Milliyet Ekonomi

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced new support coefficients and product-based incentive amounts covering the years 2026 and 2027 for plant and animal production.
Coefficient Increase in Agricultural Supports
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has increased plant and animal production support amounts to protect producers against rising input costs. The basic support coefficient value for plant production was raised from 310 lira per decare to 367 lira for the 2026 production year. This represents a 50.4% increase compared to the 244 lira level in 2025. According to the Ministry's statement, the support coefficient value for the 2027 production year was set at 442 lira. It was stated that the 2026 updates will be covered by the 2027 budget, and the 2027 payments will be covered by the 2028 budget.
Significant Increase in Livestock Incentives
With the new decision announced by the Ministry, comprehensive improvements were also made in livestock support for 2026. The basic calf support per animal in cattle farming was increased from 1,400 lira to 2,000 lira. In the small ruminant livestock sector, the basic support for lambs and kids was increased by 43% from 300 lira to 430 lira. Shepherd support, provided to ensure sustainability in rural areas, was also increased by 43%, reaching 116,100 lira from 81,000 lira. These incentives aim to alleviate livestock farming costs.
New Product-Based Supports
The highest increase rate in product-based supports was seen in the legume group. Support for lentils and chickpeas became 734 lira per decare for 2026 and 1,326 lira for 2027. Support for wheat, barley, and corn was increased to 954 lira, and to 1,149 lira for 2027. Support for sunflower, beans, soybeans, and canola will be 1,101 lira, rising to 1,326 lira in 2027. Cotton premium was increased to 1,652 lira, and support for potatoes, onions, and safflower to 734 lira. In 2027, cotton will receive 1,989 lira, and the onion group 884 lira in support.
Payment Schedule and Advance Demand
Evaluating the support increases, Prof. Dr. Süleyman Soylu, a faculty member at Selçuk University's Faculty of Agriculture, made the following statements regarding the issue:
'The biggest complaint is about the payment schedule. If a support is not provided before the planting season or at a time of need, it erodes against inflation. Our producers' expectation is the development of a system they can use, for example, like an advance account.'
Agricultural Writer Ali Ekber Yıldırım drew attention to the urgent need for funds and evaluated the payment timing:
'The payment needs to be made early to be beneficial.'
Farmers want the payments to be made in time for the planting and harvest seasons.
Price Concerns in the Dried Raisin Market
While record levels were reached for various products in plant production this season, producers in the dried raisin sector, which accounts for more than 40% of global exports, are experiencing price concerns. Tariş announced the advance price for dried raisins as 80 lira per kilogram. Producers are complaining about cost pressures compared to last season's purchase price of 120 lira. Producers, who calculate their production cost at 95 lira and expect a free market price of 150 lira, state that the announced low advance price does not cover their costs.
