TMO Opens Tender for 295,000 Tons of Feed Corn

The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) will hold a tender for 295,000 tons of feed corn on November 12, citing logistical disruptions on the Black Sea route and rising feed demand.

Stock Replenishment Against Supply Issues

The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) announced that the domestic corn harvest is expected to reach 8.1 million tons. The institution stated in its announcement that consumption is rapidly increasing in parallel with the needs of the growing feed sector. The TMO General Directorate made the following statement regarding logistical disruptions on the Black Sea route:

'The logistical problems experienced in the current phase of the Russia-Ukraine war are bringing shipments from these countries, which hold a significant place in our corn supply, to a standstill. The intense demand for the limited amount of imported product reaching our country is leading to price offers above normal market levels and fluctuations in domestic prices. These conditions necessitate taking precautions before the harvest is completed.'

It is aimed to bring food inflation under control with the market measures taken.

Feed Corn Tender from Seven Ports

As part of market regulation steps, the details of the official tender program prepared by TMO were shared. According to the schedule, the institution will purchase a total of 295,000 tons of feed corn on November 12, 2026. The import process will be carried out through 7 separate ports and delivery points across Turkey. Officials reported that stocks are being fortified against future supply shortages and that the balance with domestic producers is being maintained. The institution aims to prevent speculative price movements through external purchases.
