Russia's Fertilizer Exports to EU Plummet in First Half

Russia's fertilizer exports to European Union countries saw a sharp decline of approximately fourfold year-on-year in the first half of 2026, falling to €297.9 million.
Sharp Decline in EU's Fertilizer Imports
According to data from RIA Novosti and Vedomosti, Russia's fertilizer supply to the European Union plummeted by 3.9 times in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period last year, reaching €297.9 million. Among the bloc's countries, compound fertilizers constituted the largest share of purchases at €142.7 million, followed by potash fertilizers at €111.9 million and nitrogen fertilizers at €42.9 million. Organic fertilizer orders remained limited, accounting for only €474,000 in total shipments.
June Shipments and Buyers
In June, the European Union's fertilizer purchases from Russia fell 3.5 times year-on-year to €93.97 million. This volume, however, represented a 1.6-fold increase from May and marked the highest level since December. Slovenia led June imports with €29.5 million, followed by Germany with €12.45 million, Bulgaria with €12.44 million, and Poland with €10.2 million.
