Following attacks on Turkish merchant vessels in the Black Sea, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has intervened, initiating high-level contacts to ensure citrus exports are not disrupted.
The Adana Farmers' Union announced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has intervened following attacks on Turkish vessels carrying fresh fruits and vegetables in the Black Sea. As part of the process, the Ukrainian ambassador was summoned to the ministry and warned, while it was announced that direct talks would be held at the presidential level with the Russian Federation and Kyrgyzstan to resolve the crisis.
Following diplomatic initiatives, vessels are expected to continue their voyages through a secure corridor. The Union cautioned producers and exporters against speculations aimed at lowering prices. It was also noted that citrus harvesting permits for the new season will be issued as the products mature.
