In the Organize Agriculture Zone in Silopi district of Şırnak, where infrastructure was completed with an investment of 202 million lira, half of the greenhouse parcels have been allocated.
The infrastructure process for the Silopi Greenhouse Organized Agriculture Zone project, carried out in cooperation with the Şırnak Provincial Special Administration and Şırnak Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the coordination of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, has been successfully completed. The infrastructure works in the region, established on an area of 947 decares in the Başverimli town vicinity, were finalized with an expenditure of 202 million lira, making 42 greenhouse parcels and 9 agriculture-based industry parcels ready for investors. The allocation process for 21 out of the 42 greenhouse parcels in the project area has been officially completed for entrepreneurs.
Six of the entrepreneurs who were allocated land in the region have qualified for a 70% grant support within the scope of the Rural Development Investment Program implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Şırnak Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Oktay Sezgin, made a statement regarding the matter:
The Organized Agriculture Zone boasts a strategic and logistical advantage, being located just 11 kilometers from the Habur Customs Gate. Officials state that the fresh vegetables to be produced in the region will not only be supplied to the domestic market but also directly exported to neighboring country markets such as Iraq and Syria. Şırnak Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Oktay Sezgin, highlighted the project's foreign trade potential:
The massive agricultural complex, expected to contribute 1.2 billion lira in added value to the Turkish economy annually upon reaching full capacity, plans to directly employ approximately 1,000 people. With a target of 75% of the employed personnel being women, the aim is to integrate rural female labor into production. Şırnak Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, Oktay Sezgin, drew attention to the project's regional impact:
Entrepreneur Belkıs Katırcı, a mother of three who received a parcel allocation from the organized zone, announced that she will establish a modern, high-tech greenhouse using soilless farming techniques on a 15-decare area. Stating that she will provide employment for approximately 20 people, primarily women, at her facility, Greenhouse Investor Belkıs Katırcı shared her goals:
