Forest Fires Hit Greenhouses and Settlements in Antalya

Forest fires erupting in Antalya's Aksu, Kepez, and Serik districts, as well as Adana's Kozan, spread to residential areas and greenhouses due to strong winds; numerous teams have commenced aerial and ground intervention.
Intense Intervention on Aksu and Kepez Line
The forest fire that started near Karaöz Neighborhood in Antalya's Aksu district yesterday evening rapidly grew due to strong winds and spread to the borders of Kepez district. Due to the flames spreading over a wide area around Karaöz, Hatipler, Yeşilkaraman, Kızıllı, and Çamlıca neighborhoods, the Antalya-Isparta highway and the North Ring Road were temporarily closed to traffic for safety reasons. An intense aerial and ground intervention is underway with 5 aircraft, more than 10 helicopters, 110 fire engines, and over 600 personnel since the morning hours.
Houses and Greenhouses Damaged in Serik
A forest fire also broke out for an as-yet undetermined reason in the Deniztepesi and Sarıabalı neighborhoods of Serik district, one of Antalya's important agricultural production centers. While the flames that started at night threatened residential and production areas, 5 houses and some greenhouses in the region were completely destroyed and rendered unusable. Evacuation efforts were carried out in the neighborhoods, and 12 fire engines, 4 fire trucks, and 6 water tankers were dispatched to the firefighting operation. Citizens affected by smoke and a construction machinery driver involved in an accident were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Aerial Firefighting in Adana Kozan Countryside
Another forest fire in the Mediterranean region occurred in the rural area of Doğalanı Neighborhood in Adana's Kozan district. Following the smoke rising from the forested area, teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry and firefighting helicopters were immediately dispatched to the area. Despite the rugged terrain conditions, teams are continuously working from the air and ground to prevent the flames from causing further damage to agricultural lands and the forest ecosystem.
