Turkey Rises to Top 10 in Global Seed Exports

Reaching 117 countries in seed exports and securing the 10th global position, Turkey has boosted its foreign trade coverage ratio to 141%, now setting its sights on the major Asian seed summit in Antalya.
Global Success in Seed Exports
Turkey has gained significant global momentum in the seed industry, thanks to its favorable climate conditions and strategic geographical location. According to current data, Turkey exports seeds to 117 countries, rising to the 10th position in global seed industry rankings. When ornamental plants, seedlings, and sapling varieties are included, the market reach exceeds 130 countries. A notable improvement has also been recorded in the sector's foreign trade balance; the export-to-import coverage ratio, which was 108% in 2018, has now reached 141%.
Teck Wah Koh, Chairman of the Asia Pacific Seed Association (APSA), described the developments in the country with the following words:

International Seed Summit in Antalya
Turkey's strategic position in the sector will be further solidified by a major international event. The International Asian Seed Congress will convene in Antalya from December 1-5. With approximately 1,000 delegates already registered, the major event is expected to attract a total of 2,000 participants. Advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence used in seed breeding and production processes, along with innovative practices in the sector, will be comprehensively discussed during the summit. APSA President Teck Wah Koh stated that Turkey, serving as a bridge between Asia and Europe, makes a significant contribution to the sector with its production potential.
