Drought and extreme heat in Europe are threatening dairy producers and cheese storage facilities in Italy. It is becoming increasingly difficult to protect over half a million cheese stocks, valued at over 300 million euros and serving as collateral for bank loans to dairy farmers, under suitable temperature conditions.
The heatwave is also impacting river flows, with water levels on Germany's Rhine, Danube, and Elbe rivers falling to critical thresholds. Similarly, record water loss in Romania's Danube River is negatively affecting energy production and logistics transportation.
