Marmarabirlik Prepares for Record Purchase Amidst Lingering Price Uncertainty
· GıdaTarım

As Marmarabirlik enters the season with a purchase target of 64,000 tons for 2026-2027 and a historic crop declaration, the failure to announce floor prices just days before product intake is causing concern among producers.
Record Crop Declaration and Purchase Target
Marmarabirlik Chairman of the Board, Ali Yıldız, announced that the institution aims to purchase approximately 64,000 tons of olives in the 2026-2027 season. While an olive production of 430,000 tons is expected in the production region where the cooperative operates, the crop declaration submitted by members has reached 105,000 tons. This declared amount has been officially recorded as the highest crop declaration Marmarabirlik has ever achieved. The cooperative union, announcing that the product purchase campaign will begin on Monday, November 9, will start accepting products from producers during the harvest period.

Producers' Eyes on the Announced Floor Price
In the region, the Katırlı Village Development Cooperative has set the ceiling price for olive purchases this season at 230 TL. Marmarabirlik, which applied prices between 55 TL and 160 TL per kilogram for Gemlik-type table olives last year, has not yet shared its official price list. Orhangazi Chamber of Agriculture Chairman Dinçer Dimrit, stating that farmers are struggling with high crop yields and increasing costs, issued the following warning:
'The producer is harvesting their olives, delivering them to their cooperative, but they don't know how much their product will be worth'
Producers want the definitive purchase prices to be clarified as soon as possible while delivering their products.
