Nutritional Treatment in Hyperthyroidism

1. Iodized salt should not be used. Use non-iodized salt.

2. Foods high in iron should be consumed.

3. Selenium-rich foods can help balance thyroid hormone levels and protect against thyroid diseases. Selenium helps prevent cell damage and keep your thyroid and other tissues healthy.

4. Eating a diet rich in zinc helps strengthen the immune system and keep your thyroid gland healthy.

5. Hyperthyroidism can lead to weak and brittle bones. A diet rich in vitamin D and calcium should be consumed for healthy bones.

6. Olive oil and omega-3 fatty acids can help reduce inflammation in the body. This helps protect thyroid health and balance thyroid hormones.

7. Some spices and herbs help protect and balance thyroid functions. Such as the turmeric & black pepper duo.

8. Limiting foods rich in gluten (containing wheat, barley, oats, and rye) may be beneficial for thyroid health.

10. Soy and soy products should be avoided.

11. Caffeinated foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, soda, and chocolate can exacerbate hyperthyroidism symptoms and lead to increased anxiety, irritability, and rapid heart rate (tachycardia).
