Ünal Örnek Elected to International Co-operatives Alliance Board

Representing Turkey's cooperative movement, Ünal Örnek has joined the global board of the International Co-operatives Alliance (ICA) during its General Assembly held in Panama.
The global leadership of the International Co-operatives Alliance (ICA) was determined at its General Assembly meeting held in Panama. Within the scope of the General Assembly, Dr. Ariel Guarco was re-elected as the President of the ICA, while Ünal Örnek, who contributes to the organization of forest villagers and producers in Turkey, was elected as a member of the ICA Board of Directors.
Cooperative representatives gathered at the summit evaluated the transformative role of cooperatives in the face of the climate crisis, food security, and economic fluctuations. The new management committed to implementing solidarity-based models that will increase the bargaining power of local producers; this election was noted as a critical stage for the global representation of Turkey's agricultural organization ecosystem.
