Aykut Kaya, NEW Party Antalya Deputy, announced that the declaration of concordat by 5-6 firms in the Antalya Market has led to a collection crisis exceeding 10 billion lira and a domino effect in the market.
Concordat Wave and Domino Effect in the Market
Speaking at the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, NEW Party Antalya Deputy Aykut Kaya drew attention to the recent financial bottleneck experienced in the Antalya Wholesale Market. Speaking about the crisis that shook the agricultural trade chain, NEW Party Antalya Deputy Aykut Kaya made the following remarks:
“Today, 5-6 firms in the Antalya Market have recently declared concordat. The effect of this was not limited to these firms alone. It created a virtual domino effect.”
It was emphasized that these bankruptcy postponement processes not only affect the commercial enterprises involved but also directly paralyze the entire agricultural supply chain, from farmers in the field to commission agents.
Ten Billion Lira Collection Crisis
Stating that the financial devastation caused by the concordat processes in the agricultural sector is deepening, NEW Party Antalya Deputy Aykut Kaya made the following assessment:
“It is estimated that the firms declaring concordat have caused an economic loss of over 10 billion TL in the market and created a serious collection problem.”
Kaya stated that the current concordat legislation needs to be urgently revised according to the dynamics of the agricultural sector in order to prevent the liquidity and collection blockage experienced in the market, and called for the immediate change of the long-term check system in the sector.
