Manure Storage Facilities in Two Pilot Villages

Within the scope of the Turkey Climate Smart and Competitive Agricultural Growth Project (TUCSAP), carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, environmentally friendly and climate-smart agricultural practices are being implemented. In line with the project's component targeting the reduction of water pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, an exemplary investment concerning all 81 provinces has been initiated. Within this framework, the construction contracts for modern animal manure storage facilities for livestock enterprises in a total of 2 pilot villages, namely Şemsiler Neighborhood in Kiraz district of Izmir and Ataköy Neighborhood in Ahmetli district of Manisa, have been officially signed. The investment aims to prevent the uncontrolled spread of waste and protect underground and surface water resources.

Five-Year Producer Training Program

Under the application that will support sustainable livestock farming in rural areas, local producers will implement all rules specified in the Nitrate Action Plan on-site. Through the work to be carried out under the coordination of the Ministry, producers will undergo comprehensive farmer training and awareness programs for 5 years. The project, which modernizes the manure management infrastructure of livestock enterprises, aims to increase operational efficiency while establishing permanent environmental standards in the fight against climate change.
