Drip Irrigation Era Begins in Kırklareli's Pastures
· Tarım TV

Drip irrigation techniques have been implemented in artificial meadows and pastures in Kırklareli to increase forage yield and ensure water savings.
Modern irrigation methods are being implemented across Kırklareli's artificial meadows and pastures to increase forage yield. Studies conducted in collaboration with the Atatürk Soil Water and Agricultural Meteorology Research Institute and the Kırklareli Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry ensure that the region's pasture areas are supplied with planned and economical water. Within the scope of the project, brought to life with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's Training and Publications Department, drip irrigation systems are being integrated to replace traditional flood irrigation methods, aiming for maximum yield increase in pasture areas.
The closing program of the 'Every Drop Makes a Difference, Smart Irrigation, Healthy Pasture' Project, which brings producers in the region together with modern agricultural techniques, was held at the research institute with broad participation. At the meeting, attended by Kırklareli Governor Uğur Turan, the project's concrete contributions to increasing producers' awareness of modern irrigation techniques and the efficient use of limited water resources were evaluated. Institute Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ülviye Çebi and Project Coordinator Dr. Ozan Öztürk also gave presentations on technical processes and field findings.
Speaking at the program, Kırklareli Governor Uğur Turan emphasized the strategic importance of agriculture and water resources, stating that protecting the soil means protecting the future. Kırklareli Governor Uğur Turan made the following statement:
Kırklareli Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Gökhan Karaca brought the issue of roughage, which is critically important for the livestock sector, to the agenda. Karaca stated that the roughage needs for the sustainability of animal production in the Thrace region must be met by making the best use of existing natural resources, and emphasized that pasture and meadow areas must absolutely be protected and improved. It was noted that smart irrigation techniques will extend the vegetation period of pastures and increase the amount of forage harvested per unit area.
In his closing remarks, Kırklareli Governor Uğur Turan touched upon the future agricultural production structure and concluded his words as follows:
After the speeches were completed, Governor Uğur Turan and the accompanying delegation inspected the project implementation area where the drip irrigation system was installed on-site.
