Ministry to Lease Uncultivated Farmland for Two Years
· Yeni Şafak

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has officially launched the process to seasonally lease farmland left idle for two consecutive years, without transferring ownership.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has completed its identification efforts for the 2026 production year, aiming to bring farmland left uncultivated for two consecutive years back into production nationwide. The Ministry has officially initiated the official announcement process for lands that have remained idle due to reasons such as ownership disputes, co-ownership, migration, and abandonment of agricultural activities. Applications, which will be finalized by Provincial Directorates of Agriculture and Forestry, will absolutely not involve ownership transfer. The lands in question will be leased seasonally to producers strictly for use in agricultural production.

Under the application, the determined lease payment for the leased lands will be paid directly to the rightful owner. Lessees will not be able to use the lands for purposes other than their intended use and will not alter their agricultural character in any way. All areas brought back into production through leasing will be registered in the Farmer Registration System (ÇKS) and included in agricultural production planning. This regulation is aimed at directly contributing to strengthening food supply security and the sustainability of agricultural production.
