The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has shared its list of counterfeit and adulterated products with the public as a result of inspections carried out to ensure food safety. According to the data published on the Ministry's official internet platform, 'guvenilirgida.tarimorman.gov.tr', a total of 53 new products have been added to the list, 13 of which are of a nature that would directly endanger human health. In the announcement, where firms and brands threatening food safety were disclosed, irregularities in basic food items frequently consumed by consumers drew attention. Serious fraudulent practices were detected in laboratory examinations, particularly in basic animal and plant product groups such as ground beef, olive oil, and sucuk.
According to the data announced by the Ministry, horse meat was found to be used in the product marketed as 'ground beef' by a business operating in the Akdeniz district of Mersin. In another part of the inspections, counterfeit and adulteration were officially recorded in the product labeled 'strained flower honey' produced in the Bucak district of Burdur. Similar violations were detected in controls carried out across Istanbul; while foreign matter was found in the product offered for sale as 'saffron' in Büyükçekmece, a banned drug active ingredient was detected in the 'slimming tea' sold in Kağıthane.
