Ministry Announces Biological Control Supports for 2027

With the regulation published in the Official Gazette, support for the 2027 production year has been clarified, with the greenhouse biological and biotechnical package increased to 6,630 Turkish Lira per decare.

2027 Agricultural Supports Announced

With the new regulation prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and published in the Official Gazette, farmers' support for the 2027 production year has been finalized. Within the scope of the published regulation, the payment items to be provided to producers who prefer biological and biotechnical control methods in plant production were detailed. According to the new regulation, farmers engaged in greenhouse production will receive 6,630 Turkish Lira per decare under the package. For producers carrying out plant production in open fields, the support amount has been recorded as 2,210 Turkish Lira. Support payments will be applied according to the determined product groups and harmful organisms.

Support Amounts in Greenhouse Production

Financial incentives for producers engaged in vegetable cultivation under cover have been clarified with Official Gazette data. Greenhouse operators growing tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, and squash will receive 5,570 Turkish Lira per decare in support within the scope of biological control. In biotechnical control methods, producers applying pheromones and traps together will be paid 1,060 Turkish Lira. Growers who use only pheromones in greenhouses will benefit from a support of 550 Turkish Lira. These determined supports aim to provide sustainable protection against greenhouse pests.

Biotechnical Control Payments in Open Fields

Details of the biotechnical control supports provided to farmers growing tomatoes in open field conditions have been announced. Producers who use pheromones and traps together against the tomato moth in their fields will be paid 750 Turkish Lira per decare. Open-field tomato producers who opt for only pheromone traps in their pest control will be paid 550 Turkish Lira. According to the regulation, if licensed biological or biotechnical products are used against two different harmful organisms on the same crop, support will be calculated separately for both pests.

Incentive Amounts for Fruit Orchards

The per-unit support amounts for the 2027 year for farmers producing in the fruit growing sector have been shared in the regulation list. The biotechnical control support for apple, vineyard, quince, and pear orchards has been set at 1,060 Turkish Lira. Citrus producers will receive 1,150 Turkish Lira per decare for biological control, and 935 Turkish Lira for persimmon orchards. Peach and nectarine producers will receive 1,060 Turkish Lira for the use of pheromones and traps, and 550 Turkish Lira for pheromones alone. An incentive of 1,060 Turkish Lira has been defined for persimmons for pheromones and traps.

Ten Decare Facility for Olive Producers

A very significant facilitation has been made in the conditions for biotechnical control support, which olive producers have long demanded. The minimum parcel size requirement for producers wishing to benefit from licensed pheromone and trap support against the olive fruit fly has been redefined. The minimum parcel size, currently applied as at least 20 decares in the existing regulation, has been reduced to 10 decares for the year 2027. Producers applying biotechnical control in their olive groves will be paid 550 Turkish Lira per decare. Thus, small-scale olive producers have also been enabled to benefit from the support.

High-Tech Era in Agricultural Inspections

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has established a comprehensive technical inspection mechanism for planned production and support control processes. Teams from provincial and district agriculture directorates will personally inspect all fields where planned products are cultivated on-site. On parcels outside the plan, sample-based controls will be carried out. Geographical information systems, remote sensing technologies, and unmanned aerial vehicles will be effectively used in inspection activities. Official planned production control records will be prepared as a result of satellite and drone detections.

Crop Rotation Rules Redefined for Cereals

New flexibilities have been introduced to crop rotation and planting order rules in agricultural production with the regulation published in the Official Gazette. Continuous cropping of barley, wheat, rye, triticale, and oat products has been legally permitted on dry farming parcels. This flexibility allows dry farming producers to freely shape their production plans according to market conditions. The regulation also stipulates that special irrigated crop rotation rules will apply to farmers growing potatoes and carrots in the Kumlu and Reyhanlı basins of Hatay.

Target to Reduce Chemical Pesticide Use

The reduction of agricultural chemicals and the protection of food safety form the core axis of the comprehensive support package announced by the Ministry. With the widespread adoption of biological and biotechnical techniques in pest control, both soil quality will be preserved and residue-free products will be harvested. Through this incentive system, which respects the natural balance, it is planned to overcome the residue problems encountered in exports. With the input support provided to farmers, the usage rate of environmentally friendly biological control materials in agricultural areas will be gradually increased.
